Have you been wondering why so many people are selling their houses to live in RVs or even debating doing it yourself? In today’s blog post I will be talking about a few of the reasons why full-time RV living is becoming so popular.

My name is Lauren and I personally joined the full-time RV lifestyle around nine months ago. My reasoning was that I was moving and a travel trailer was easier to acquire than an apartment which would have been over $1,000 in rent a month and not to mention being waitlisted for the apartments. I have since upgraded to a larger fifth wheel and plan on keeping this lifestyle for a while. Here are some reasons that I stuck with it as well as why others are making the switch themselves>

3 Reasons to Full-Time RV:

1. Affordability

According to Statista the average price of a house in the United States in 2021 was $408,800. While the price to buy an RV is much more affordable, even after factoring in the cost of land as well as preparing it for full-time living. Camper Report lists the average RV costs in 2021 with fifth wheels being $70,000, travel trailers being $35,000, class A, B, & C motorhomes ranging from $134,000 to $375,000. Affordability is one of the biggest factors.

2. Freedom to Travel or Live Anywhere

The freedom of location is also a great reason to live in an RV. Many people sell their houses, and use the money to travel, or live in different areas for a while. Staying in an RV park is very affordable for nightly costs or even monthly costs, and some have amenities such as laundry facilities, pools, or clubhouses. By choosing to live in an RV you can easily move and take your whole house with you.

3. Minimalistic Lifestyle

Another reason people like the RV life is for the minimalism. Tiny homes have been gaining popularity along with minimalism. People are seeing that large spaces are not necessary, and instead, we can save money by only having space for the things we need. This minimalist lifestyle leads people to invest more time outside and in hobbies rather than indoors. Because of this, it is becoming popular to not have an expensive mortgage, when most of your time should be spent being enjoyed elsewhere anyways. Having less space means buying less furniture, bringing less home shopping, and having less space to clean.

To wrap things up, full-time RV living has been gaining popularity for the affordability, freedom to travel or move, and the minimalistic lifestyle.

This article was awesome! Is it also easy to live in an RV while having a full-time job? Is there accessible parking in many public spaces for RVs?

RV life seems so fun! These are great reasons to embrace living in an RV full-time, I’ll have to share this with my friend who tried it this summer. I love the spontaneous nature that comes with living on wheels. Thanks for the post Lauren, keep up the great content!
